Centro Studi

Cultural Innovation Hub

Kineton has always believed that innovation is not only a technological matter but also a cultural one. Technology is not a neutral element: it affects people’s daily lives, economic and social dynamics, the world of work, and even our perceptions of reality.

For this reason, Kineton established its Centro Studi — a laboratory of ideas, research, and initiatives to promote a critical and constructive reflection on the ongoing transformations.

It was founded to explore the role of technology in contemporary society and promote cultural initiatives that have a tangible impact. Through projects, collaborations, and research activities, it aims to be a reference point for reflection and action, addressing the challenges posed by digitalisation.

The Centro Studi is where technology and culture meet, with research projects, debates, and publications exploring the relationship between technological innovation and society, analysing the ethical, political, and economic challenges involved.

Research and Innovation for the Future

Technological evolution radically transforms society, work, and the economy, bringing new opportunities but also unprecedented challenges. The Centro Studi serves as a privileged observatory on these changes, fostering dialogue among experts, businesses, and institutions to understand the present and envision the future.

Through Meridiani Digitali and the Osservatorio sulla Società Digitale, the Centro is dedicated to research and outreach, offering tools for analysing and interpreting the dynamics of digitalisation. These two projects represent the core of Kineton’s cultural mission: on the one hand, creating opportunities for dialogue and learning; on the other, developing studies and research to address the challenges of innovation with awareness and strategic vision.

Meridiani Digitali and Innovation Dialogues

Meridiani Digitali is the registered brand of a conference format created by Kineton. It is designed to explore the transformations triggered by the digital revolution and their impact on the economy, society, and culture. Through a series of debates, conferences, and multidisciplinary meetings, Meridiani Digitali acts as a platform for dialogue among technology experts, academics, entrepreneurs, and institutions, aiming to foster a critical and constructive reflection on current changes.

A Constantly Evolving Format
Initially developed internally at Kineton, the project expanded in 2023 to prestigious events and institutional partners.

SMART MOBILITY Human-scale cities or machine-scale cities?

As famously stated in a McKinsey study, the car has become “a computer on wheels,” where the hardware-defined vehicle is increasingly joined by the software-defined vehicle. The spread of digital technologies in the automotive sector clearly illustrates how product transformation -driven by the need to meet customer expectations for constant connectivity and interaction, much like with mobile devices- is reshaping an entire industry.

Car makers are now deeply engaged in a transformation that is redefining the value chain, introducing new players such as software vendors and telco providers, and demanding the digitalization of their organizations in order to fully unlock the benefits of the connected car.

These themes go far beyond the industrial perimeter and involve a wide range of stakeholders. Smart mobility, in fact, is also a tool that reimagines our cities through the lens of sustainable development. The term encompasses multiple components: technology, mobility infrastructure (parking systems, charging networks, signage, vehicles), integrated urban mobility solutions (including new mobility models), and—most importantly—people.

Osservatorio sulla Società Digitale

In 2023, Kineton took a decisive step in reflecting on digital transformation by founding the Osservatorio sulla Società Digitale (OSD) in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at the University of Naples Federico II.

The OSD aims to conduct an in-depth, interdisciplinary analysis of digitalisation’s ethical, social, and economic implications. The goal is not only to understand the effects of innovation but also to guide its evolution toward sustainability and equity.

The OSD Addresses Crucial Contemporary Issues:

  • The human-technology relationship and the impact of artificial intelligence on society.
  • Fairness in technological development and the risks of algorithmic discrimination.
  • Consent and privacy in the age of big data.
  • Automation and the future of work, focusing on economic and social implications.
  • Sustainability and technology promoting growth that respects the environment and people.
  • The ethics of autonomous machines in a world increasingly influenced by AI and robotics.

OSD Activities Include:

  • A seminar series featuring international experts aimed at students and professionals who want to understand the future of technology.
  • A planning table with an international scientific committee that will produce a biennial report analysing the most relevant trends and proposing strategies for responsible development.

Theatrical Culture in the Workplace

Culture is a key driver of growth and inspiration for Kineton. This vision underpins the company’s support for Theatron Association, which runs a small theatre in the eastern area of Naples, promoting theatre as a form of artistic expression and vibrant contemporary culture.

This project goes beyond external sponsorship: Kineton actively involves its employees, allowing them to experience theatre as spectators and as true protagonists. Through an acting course, employees immerse themselves in performing arts, exploring new forms of expression and creativity. The initiative culminated in staging a Neapolitan comedy — the result of a learning journey that brought the worlds of business and culture closer together.

With the Theatron project, Kineton reaffirms its commitment to fostering the fusion of technological innovation and cultural heritage, recognising theatre as a powerful tool for personal and collective growth.
