Benefits of Model-Based System Engineering Techniques for Automotive and/or Aerospace Industries

Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) represents an innovative and integrated approach to the design of complex systems, which accelerates development and improves product quality. By using models as the main foundation, MBSE facilitates the entire system lifecycle, from requirements definition to final verification and validation. Kineton is exploring and developing advanced MBSE techniques to enhance the design and implementation of its integrated systems, particularly for automotive applications. The main goal is to create accurate and reusable models that represent the behaviour and interactions of system components, enabling early simulation and continuous verification during development.

The exploratory thesis will focus on:

  • analysis of the benefits and challenges against other methodologies, of adopting MBSE in the automotive and/or aerospace context
  • development of RFLP models in a virtual environment for the simulation and verification of complex systems
  • implementation of simplified models to describe system behaviour (e.g., expected performance, reliability)
  • integration of model-based verification and validation techniques to ensure compliance with functional and non-functional requirements
